Mr. Matwey's Message

Welcome Back to another great year of Camp Summerset, your favorite whole-kid-focused neighborhood camp!

2015 promises to be another fantastic year, with the return of everything that makes Camp Summerset so special and the introduction of great new classes, teachers, and special events.

We are excited to announce new classes, including Somerset Treasure Hunters, Print Making, Living Things (Science), Somerset Theatre, Folk Art, and Camp Puzzler, as well as the return of perennial favorites including Carnival, Computers, Art, Yoga, Science, Sports, and Magic. Among our new teachers this year are Somerset's very own kindergarten teacher Ms. Erin Crowley, teaching Mini Camp, and first grade teacher Ms. Stephanie Krombach, teaching Science, Computers, and other exciting classes. Finally, we are very pleased to announce that this year our Sports teacher will be Mr. Brian Thomas, currently a P.E. teacher at Rock Creek Forest elementary school.

As always, we will offer five wonderful programs for children aged 4 to 11, including Mini Camp, Minnows, and City Ventures, in addition to Classic Camp (Juniors and Seniors). All our programs are designed to stimulate kids' bodies, minds, creativity, and imagination.

Don't forget! All Classic Camp Juniors and Seniors will go to the pool each day, while Mini Camp will swim several times per session. Finally, we will once again offer Before Care and After Care to suit the needs of working families.

We hope you will join us this year for our 22nd summer of excitement, explorations, and fun. We look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,
Greg Matwey

From the Desk of Mrs. K

Hello Campers!

I will be looking for you at Camp Summerset 2015 for a fun filled summer of exciting games and programs.

We will begin our day at 9:00 with a morning meeting where we will share news, songs, jokes/riddles and the “lucky basket”.

We are so happy this summer to be welcoming some new teachers and to be able to offer you so many new classes. MCPS PE Teacher, Brian Thomas will be teaching Sports and Games. Ms. Ruttkay, Somerset Teacher, not only will take our older campers on their City Ventures trips, but she will also be teaching Somerset Theatre. Mr. Ira Richardson will continue with the popular Juggling and Yoyos, as well as new classes such as Printmaking, Sewing Circle, and Folk Art – just to name a few of his classes. We also welcome Ms. Stephanie Krombach, Somerset Teacher, who will teach Carnival, Science, and Computers. We welcome back Mrs. Stemmer, Somerset Teacher, who will also teach Computers. We welcome back former Somerset Counselor, Mrs. Heather Bradley, who will teach Yoga and Running Club, AND a new program for Counselors-in-Training (CIT’S).

These are just some highlights from a few of our teachers and classes waiting for you at camp this summer. We welcome all of our new and returning teachers to our camp family. Visit the camp website for a listing of all of our tracks/classes.

I hope to see you and your smile at CAMP SUMMERSET 2015!!!

Ms. K
