Mr. Matwey's Message

Welcome back campers!
Get ready for an amazing Camp Summerset 2019 season!

It is with some sadness that I announce that Camp Summerset's beloved long-time director, Mrs. Sandra Kalavritinos, retired from Camp after our 2018 season. But, I am excited to announce that joining me as co-director will be Ms. Hillary Reed, 4th grade teacher at Somerset Elementary School and past Camp Summerset teacher.

As always, 2019 will bring some big changes to Camp, including wonderful new teachers and exciting new classes which you can find out about on our Programs pages.
We are excited to announce that our dates for Summer 2019 Camp Summerset sessions are: Session 1: June 24 - July 5 (two weeks), Session 2: July 8 - July 19 (two weeks: no camp on July 4), Session 3: July 22 - August (two weeks).

Registration for 2019 will be rolled out in two stages. First, if you are a returning Camp Summerset family, look forward to receiving an email with a code which will authorize you to be among the first to Register on Thursday, January 17th. Registration for the general public will open on Sunday, January 20th.

Message from Ms. Reed

Campers, I am so excited for our 2019 summer together to begin!

Mr. Matwey and I are working hard to make this Camp’s best summer yet. This year, we are pleased to welcome back a number of our excellent teachers: Diane Anderson, Andrew Beiglarbeigie, Heather Bradley, Tracy Jeffcott, Rachel Lyons, and Brian Thomas.

In addition, we are delighted to announce several new teachers joining the camp family:

David Spitzberg, Somerset ES instrumental music teacher, will lead classes combining his love of fitness, movement, rhythm, and percussion.

Bess Pickar, Somerset ES 4th grade teacher, will share both her interests in STEM and in storytelling with the classes Construct-O-Mania and S’mores and Stories.

Lynn Lewis, Somerset ES art teacher, will inspire classes of creative campers in her Artist’s Cafe.

Carolyn Jones, from Neelsville MS, will be bringing her expertise in music to teach classes on music composition and musical theater.

Finally, for the first time ever Camp Summerset will offer Taekwondo, taught by professional instructor, Master Young-Jo Lee.

Other great classes we have in store include Eco-Explorations, Wild Things, Graphic Design, Treasure Hunters, Robotics, and more!   Get ready to have fun and make memories this year at Camp Summerset.  I can’t wait to see you all there!

Ms. Reed
